If you feel stuck in life, you might believe it is your lack of motivation holding you back from achieving your goals. What if I told you that motivation is in fact not the problem, but it is your thoughts and actions keeping you back from making your big dreams come true.

Stop Waiting to ‘Feel’ Motivated, Just Do IT!

When you learn how to manage your mind and get into decisive action, even when you don’t ‘feel’ like it, you will create a positive feedback loop of reaffirming results, build new habits, and develop the mind muscle that that will generate the feelings of motivation that keep you going strong!

The way to get your mojo back is to create awareness and identify your hidden brain blocks keeping you stuck. Next you need to define what you goal is, why you want to accomplish this objective and then develop a game plan to take you to the finish line. When you take-action and get coached to stay motivated and accountable along the way, you can succeed at anything you put your mind to!

Let’s face it, there is no secret that life can be tough. This is especially true for anyone determined to create a life filled with purpose and achievement. The most important fundamental factor responsible for rising above the rest of the population is not first feeling motivation, but to get into massive action to create the motivation.

When we begin to see tangible results created from getting into action, the feeling of motivation will begin to grow, and that variable is what compels you to push yourself when those around you have already give up. You will then seek out new challenges to conquer.

Know Your What & Why

While it may seem obvious, knowing your reasoning and passion behind anything you want in life is essential. When you first set out to reach a new goal, your “why” for doing so typically starts out certain. But wait! That initial clear vision ‘why’ is often not the true reason behind the want. You must go deep and discover the real reason ‘why’ you want something, otherwise somewhere in the grind of working towards your goal, this superficial ‘why’ can quickly become insufficient to keep you moving forward.

I love to learn and am always seeking out new challenges in life. The problem is that in the past I would often dive into new activities headfirst without understanding why I was doing them in the first place. Much money, time, and energy were wasted on things I thought sounded like a good idea at the time, but in fact were not a good fit. My husband loves to remind me of my venture to become a master quilter and buying a pricey sewing machine and all the supplies (and then some) to create exactly ½ of a baby quilt over a 15-year time span.

Make no mistake, any time you tirelessly work towards something worthwhile, no matter how important, there WILL be days in which you feel less motivated than others. Having a crystal-clear reason ‘why’ (or ‘whys’) behind your ‘what’, and constantly reminding yourself of why you started in the first place serves as your second (or third, or fourth) wind to get back up and keep pushing.

Know Your Path, Plan & Purpose

When we feel passionate about a goal, and we are in the thick of massive action, our motivation tends to cause us to put get tunnel vision and we can lose site of the bigger path, plan, and purpose of the original objective. While there are times that this mindset is beneficial, some sense of the entire game plan must be maintained. Great goals rarely follow a linear path that takes us directly from point A to point B.

Instead, it is important to have a general framework in mind of each specific step towards your destination. So yes, while keeping your nose to the grindstone is a must, looking up every now to assess where we are and adjust our plans accordingly is the only way to continue heading in the right direction!

Find Your Balance and Enjoy the Journey

Whatever achievement or goal you are after, it most likely involves only one facet of your life. Whether this goal is career, personal, or other, the rest of your life is not going to stop while you go after it. Much of your time, energy, resources, and motivation is likely going to be focused on the main win you are after.

However, I can assure you that your sense of satisfaction will be greatly diminished upon reaching the finish line when you realize you have neglected every other facet of who you are to get there. Balance is always key. Don’t let the rest of your life fall to the wayside while you chase one dream! The process to getting to the goal, your journey, is in fact the answer not the problem.
