Do you ever feel like a fraud, like all your personal or professional achievements have been due to being in the right place at the right time, good luck, or just plain chance? Do you believe you are not competent, skilled, or talented even though others praise your accomplishments? Then you likely suffer from imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome can cause people a lot of mental anguish because you never truly have faith that you are the one creating your own success. You feel like you don’t deserve what you have earned and live in fear you will be exposed as not being as good as others give you credit for.

Imposter syndrome can lead people to trying to reach unrealistic expectations and think with a perfectionistic mindset that only leads to overwhelm, stress, and burnout. Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, and low self-esteem are extra fun side dishes served with imposter syndrome.

You can conquer this deep-rooted limiting belief by learning to manage your mind. A focused coaching session can bring your false ideas into consciousness so you can begin to establish new constructive ways to think, feel, and act that will completely change how you live your life.

The first step in fixing imposter syndrome mentality is to recognize that your current thoughts are all a bunch of bullshit and not serving you. Most people who suffer imposter syndrome don’t even realize how unfounded their ideas about themselves are. What if instead of believing you are a sham, you started telling yourself, “I am good enough, I am smart enough, and gosh darn it people like me”.

You get to choose what to believe about yourself. Don’t believe that statement? You get to choose whether you want to believe it too! When you decide to think you are an imposter, you feel like one, you act like one, and ultimately won’t create the results you are after because you never believed you could in the first place. You can change old attitudes, habits and thought patterns that don’t serve you and define and develop the person you want to become.

You need someone outside of yourself to point out your faulty beliefs and provide an unbiased, objective perspective. By bringing attention to current belief systems, we can begin the work of calling those bitches out! You get to write the future chapters of your story and I can teach you how to do it.

As a recovering perfectionist, I can say with some confidence that I understand what imposter syndrome feels like. I have always been extremely ambitious and climbed the proverbial corporate ladder with some success. Along the way, I would be hired into roles that I 100% thought, ‘what the hell am I doing? They are going to realize they made a huge mistake; I am underqualified for this job, and I am going to f*ck it up royally!”

Sound familiar? But guess what, I didn’t f*ck it up. In fact, most people would say I was an exceptional employee. I made a conscious decision that I was not going to let my crazy unfounded thoughts hold me back from winning. I got into massive action by taking it one step at a time, day by day, trying new things, making mistakes, learning from those mistakes and keep moving forward. Over time, this created competence, proficiency, confidence, and an overwhelming sense of pride because I did hard things and came out the other side better for it.

You can retrain you brain and reprogram it. It is your choice, you can believe you are an imposter, or you can believe you are a bad ass.
